Unlike most of the other Goodspeed history titles published, this volume consists almost entirely of detailed biographies of early settlers which are quite valuable for genealogy research. A considerable history of the region and times (including the Civil War) can be drawn from these biographies.  An important resource for the study and research of history and genealogy in the Ozark region in both southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
