Mound Prairie Baptist Cemetery near Mayview and Higginsville, Missouri in Lafayette County, MO Alternate names: Mound Prairie Cemetery, Mound Prairie Baptist Church Cemetery The Mound Prairie Baptist Cemetery is located a short distance north of Interstate Highway 70 in central Lafayette County, Missouri. The Mound Prairie United Baptist Church was also located here and was founded November 17, 1855. The church building is long gone and the site of the cemetery is in rather sad condition due to repeated vandalism. Numerous tombstones are broken and many are not in there original location. Locations nearest the Mound Prairie Baptist Cemetery are Mayview to the northwest and Higginsville to the northeast.From Interstate Highway 70, take exit 45. Turn north, the road will become a gravel road (Fortyville Road). Continue north to the first gravel road on the west (left) side which is Wheatley Road. Turn west on Wheatley and go a short distance to the intersection with Boundary Road. Go north on Boundary Road and the cemetery will be a short distance on the west side of the road. There is no sign for the cemetery but some tombstones can be seen from the road. A monument at the front near the road marking the location of the church and cemetery has been turned over so it will be hard see.
