Adobe pdf files are cross platform compatible. These are large, data intensive files. The census pages are at high resolution at their original large printed sheet size. You need a computer with a minimum of 4 GB of RAM memory to quickly move thru the pages. Most computers sold since 2008 will meet this requirement. Since these are digital copies of the original microfilmed paper documents, they will be exactly the same as whatever the Census Bureau microfilmed. If the paper documents were of poor quality or were damaged, they will reflect the same defects in the digital form. Any pages which are unreadable on the microfilm will also be unreadable in the digital form. Since the original documents are hand written, OCR cannot be performed and are not word searchable. Numerous bookmarks are included so that you can easily move quickly between the various enumeration districts. Much quicker than searching thru the microfilm! Viewing the pages on your computer is basically the same as viewing on microfilm. You simply turn page by page or you quickly move section by section by clicking on the bookmarks. Any or all pages may be printed if desired.
